Supporting Fremont nonprofits through community giving

2024-11-06 Fremont County Women Who Care

JJ's Helping Paws LogoThe Fremont Women Who Care are thrilled to announce their upcoming quarterly meeting, set for Wednesday, November 13th, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Fremont Center for the Arts at 505 Macon Ave, Cañon City. This gathering invites both returning and new members to participate in an evening of community connection, nonprofit support, and meaningful impact across Fremont County. All attendees are welcome, and members are encouraged to bring friends who may be interested in joining.

What to Expect at the November Meeting

The meeting agenda is designed to engage members in various ways, allowing them to connect with the mission and purpose of Fremont Women Who Care while fostering a strong sense of community.

  • Check-In and Networking
Attendees are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to check in and receive their nomination and voting slips. This portion of the evening provides a valuable opportunity to connect with other members, welcome newcomers, and learn more about the group's work. New members and guests are always warmly invited to join.

  • Impact Update from JJ’s Helping Paws
Fremont Women Who Care is excited to welcome representatives from JJ’s Helping Paws, the nonprofit selected as the recipient of funds at the previous August meeting. JJ’s Helping Paws has dedicated their work to supporting pet health through low-cost spay and neuter programs, vaccinations, and public education to prevent pet homelessness. Members will hear firsthand about the impact their contributions have made, as well as an update on recent accomplishments and ongoing needs.

  • Nonprofit Nominations and Presentations
After the recipient update, members will nominate local nonprofits they feel are deserving of support. Three nonprofits will be selected at random to present their mission and goals. Each representative will have the opportunity to explain how Fremont Women Who Care’s support would be instrumental in their work and to provide insight into the unique needs they address within the community. This segment is designed to give members a well-rounded understanding of the work being done by local organizations, making it an inspiring and informative experience.

  • Voting and Selection
Following the presentations, members will cast their votes for one of the three nominated nonprofits. The nonprofit receiving the most votes will be awarded funds from Fremont Women Who Care, enabling them to further their mission in Fremont County. This voting process allows all members to take an active role in shaping the group’s impact and helps foster a spirit of collaborative giving.

New Policies for a Better Meeting Experience

In response to member feedback, the Steering Committee has introduced several new policies and procedures to streamline meetings and promote fairness for all nonprofits involved. These updates are intended to keep meetings organized and ensure all nominated nonprofits have an equal opportunity for selection:

  • Streamlined Check-In Process
To make the evening run smoothly, attendees will receive their nomination and voting slips at check-in. This new process aims to keep voting organized and efficient.

  • Designated Flier Area for Nonprofit Information
To respect the time and structure of the meeting, there will no longer be spontaneous presentations for nonprofit announcements. Instead, nonprofit representatives may bring fliers with details about upcoming events or initiatives, which will be available at a designated area near the sign-in desk for attendees to pick up.

  • Eligibility Policy for Host Nonprofits
Any nonprofit that hosts a meeting will not be eligible to receive funds during that same event. This ensures that all nominated organizations have an equal opportunity during the selection process.

Open Invitation to New Members

Fremont Women Who Care warmly welcomes new members who are interested in supporting local nonprofits and connecting with others who share this goal. Bringing a friend is encouraged, and the group is always eager to expand its impact by inviting more members to participate.

A Night of Inspiration and Community Giving

The November meeting promises to be a memorable evening of community, generosity, and inspiration. Fremont Women Who Care is proud of the difference it has made in Fremont County and is excited to continue supporting local nonprofits that work tirelessly to improve lives in the area.
